"O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." These words came to me during a night following an experience I had in the summer of 1923. I wish to give it with the hope that it may help some one, and to testify to the power of Truth. One morning, about seven o'clock, I was suddenly taken very ill. Everything around me seemed to turn so that I could not stand on my feet. A great fear came over me. I was alone, my husband having gone to his work. As we had moved to a new place, we had no telephone in the house. I became more and more helpless, but my heart went out to God to give me help, and instinctively I put on a coat, crossed the court, and called a Christian Scientist. I did not know her, but I knew she was a practitioner. I asked her to come, and went right back to my house. How I had done this I could not tell. I went to bed. The practitioner came in and began to declare the truth audibly. I was losing consciousness rapidly. At that time my husband came home. Seeing me in such a condition, he asked me if I would like to have the practitioner on whom I generally called for help; and after a few words spoken with the one who was with me, he went away. I had no notion about the time, although my thoughts were clear so that I could hold on to eternal Life. Later I heard the familiar voice of the practitioner I knew calling my name. I heard the truth declared persistently, and knew that it constantly sustained me during those dark hours. The last and most severe spell occurred about noon. After that I was relieved. A little later the practitioner left, saying she would come again later in the afternoon; and I went to sleep. When I awoke, my husband read the Lesson-Sermon, and again I went to sleep. When I again awoke, the practitioner was back, comforting me again with the truth. At five o'clock I dressed and did my work as usual.

This experience has taught me more than words can express. I am indeed thankful to God, who gave us Christian Science through our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I am grateful also to the practitioners who so lovingly and faithfully helped me to hold on to eternal Life during that trial. Christian Science has been my only help during the past twelve years.

I am thankful to have the great privilege of being associated with this blessed organization as a member of The Mother Church and also of a branch church.
