My testimony of gratitude to God and Christian Science will show how I was lifted out of earth's cold darkness into the wonderful rays of divine strength and Love. We read in the second chapter of I Corinthians, "God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit." This spiritual revelation, I am glad to say, broke in upon my former dark existence.

It was in June, 1922, that I read a Christian Science Herald. This Herald came to me when I was in a sanitarium in a hopeless condition. Since November, 1921, I had been suffering from tubercular hemorrhage of the lungs. At first, I had been treated by various private specialists, but in vain. My condition grew worse, and I was obliged to go to the district hospital. My life seemed to be hanging on a thread. The doctors said the only way to prolong my life was for me to be removed to a sanitarium. At first it seemed that the change of air, together with the medical treatment, was doing me good. But a very serious relapse darkened this hope completely, and a desperate fear took possession of me. Then, in this last drifting away, my darkness was illumined by the good news contained in the wonderful words of the Herald. I had the desire to learn more of this wonderful teaching, which showed me in these few articles and testimonies that omnipotent help is so near, and is able to heal completely.

I then asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, and after the first absent treatment I felt a sense of hopeful peace take the place of the sense of fear which had been in my consciousness. The Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, became my companions; and four months after the first Christian Science treatment I was so far advanced in the spiritual understanding of divine Truth that, to the surprise of the physicians, I was able to leave the sanitarium. This was in October, 1922. Treatment was continued by the patient practitioner until I was free from fear, and a new life began for me. Since then I have been able to attend to my work in perfect health. In the meantime I married; and now it is possible for me, together with my wife, who was also healed in Christian Science of a chronic complaint, to recognize the right way.
