In a recent issue of your paper a professor is quoted as having said that Christian Scientists deny Christ or that they leave the divine Christ out of their religion. In order that your readers may not be thus misled, it will be appreciated if you will allow us space to correct this misstatement, which we can best do by quoting from page 332 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "Jesus was the son of a virgin. He was appointed to speak God's word and to appear to mortals in such a form of humanity as they could understand as well as perceive. Mary's conception of him was spiritual, for only purity could reflect Truth and Love, which were plainly incarnate in the good and pure Christ Jesus;" and on page 497 will be found the religious tenets of Christian Science, one of which is, "We acknowledge Jesus' atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man's unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death."

It is recorded in the third chapter of John that God sent His Son into the world "that the world through him might be saved." In the carrying out of God's plan, Jesus preached the gospel, which included the healing of the sick, the cleansing of lepers, the raising of the dead, as well as the casting out of devils. He also taught others to do these things; and as his earthly mission was drawing to a close he said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." As evidence that Christian Scientists are really practicing the teachings of Jesus, there are many thousands of people who daily testify to having been healed of all manner of sin and disease. "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
