I wish to add my testimony as a proof of healing through...
I wish to add my testimony as a proof of healing through Christian Science. I do indeed believe that God is "the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." I received an injury to my thumb after playing field hockey, and it developed into blood poisoning. This was in November, 1922. I was attending high school at the time, and my schoolmates constantly reminded me of the seriousness of not having it treated by a doctor. I was receiving help from a Christian Science practitioner, but the infection went from my thumb up the arm to the shoulder. The pain seemed unbearable. I continued receiving help in Science for two months. A surgeon was then called against my wishes by a member of my family. He was much alarmed at the condition. He wanted to amputate my thumb, and then could not say for a certainty whether that would be all that would be necessary. I had seen a similar case of blood poisoning healed in my family by God's Word, and I knew this same power could and would heal me. The surgeon was called on the telephone the same day and told that we had decided we would not have the operation. He was shocked at our decision, and called it criminal.
Just as soon as I trusted God entirely and clung to the truth alone, I received a taste of the blessing I knew would surely come. I went to sleep at night, and the next morning I experienced the healing, which I shall never forget. Members of my family and I myself were crying tears of gratitude and singing Christian Science hymns. A large piece of decayed bone came away from the thumb, after which it regained its normal size and was healed. Words cannot express my heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful love and peace experienced during the healing, as well as for the healing itself.
About one month later I was ill with influenza, and in one week with Christian Science treatment I was wholly healed. I am most grateful for the Christian Science Sunday School, and for the practitioners who so lovingly and patiently render such wonderful service for the advancement of God's Word and the relief of all mankind. My constant prayer is that I may become more loving and learn more of the truth, that I may be able to help others as I have been helped.—(Miss)Grace Eleanor Farnsworth, Springfield, Massachusetts.
