For over a year I endeavored to find a situation abroad
For over a year I endeavored to find a situation abroad. I went about this in the usual manner, offering my services and relying upon the personal influence of various businessmen. I always received the same answer: there was no vacancy, and owing to the large number of unemployed there was no prospect of obtaining permission to enter a foreign country. I then decided to solve the problem in Christian Science. Still I was not quite free from the material way of viewing things, and secretly believed that this or that person could procure something for me. It is clear that I could not be successful in taking a divided course.
When, in the spring of 1924, my confidence in persons had been severely shaken, I definitely resolved to seek the solution in Christian Science. I realized that God, who created all, lovingly provides for all His creation. I asked a practitioner for some explanation and for help, and both were kindly given. A fortnight later a situation in Paris was offered to me. It was immediately clear to me that this success was due to the activity of divine Truth and Love alone. I ought to be ready to be led by divine Love alone, and not to depend on other resources. This beautiful demonstration taught me anew that God's ever present love solves our problems as soon as we trust ourselves absolutely to it.
As the result of a practitioner's kind work I was freed from a chronic throat trouble which had previously returned nearly every month. Since the healing in Christian Science three years have passed without this complaint causing me any annoyance. At other times, too, I have received boundless good through Christian Science. It is giving me a higher and more spiritual understanding of life; through it I have found my friends; and it helps me in all my daily problems.
