The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Adelaide, South Australia (Society).

Lecturer: Algernon Hervey-Bathurst; introduced by Miss Ruth Minchin, who said:—

Perhaps the most beautiful thing about Christian Science is that it is so full of promise. When Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, gave this teaching to the world a little over half a century ago, she gave to it an interpretation of the Bible which makes possible, here and now, the fulfillment of every promise that the Bible contains. She had discerned, underlying the Scriptures, a great and fundamental truth, which, if made available to mankind, would prove to be its redemption from all evil—from sin, suffering, limitation, disease, and even from the fear of death. She also saw that this redemption, this deliverance, could come only through individual right thinking, through thinking in accordance with spiritual law, the law of God. That this scientific right thinking, when faithfully adhered to, brings its own great reward, is daily being proved by every student of Christian Science. We are finding it workable, practical, demonstrable; and because we are finding it so, we are desirous of passing it on to others.
