[Original testimony in German]
I too wish to express my gratitude, for the miracle God...
I too wish to express my gratitude, for the miracle God performed on me. Shortly before Christmas I was taken ill with the grippe, as we thought. I had fever, a cough, and unbearable pains. We waited a few days, and only on the fifth day, as my condition was becoming more and more serious, did we summon a physician. He diagnosed the trouble as inflammation of the lungs and pleurisy, and scolded us for not calling him before; for, he said, it was now doubtful if I could recover, as my heart was in a very weak condition, and there was already water in the thoracic cavity.
My husband in his anxiety did not know which way to turn, but telephoned to my sister to come and nurse me. She came at once and brought a Christian Science practitioner with her. The practitioner told me to hold fast to the thought that nothing is impossible with God, and that error has no power over man. It was wonderful how after the first treatment the pain completely left me. I read diligently in the writings of our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and in Der Herold der Christian Science. Without my taking any material remedies, the cough abated, and the fever left me slowly, but surely. In the morning, the day before Christmas, my heart began to trouble me; but after my sister had telephoned to the practitioner this last annoyance was overcome. When I heard the bells ringing on Christmas morning I was filled with a feeling of boundless gratitude to God, who alone had helped me.
I also wish to express my sincere gratitude to our revered Leader and to the practitioner who worked so faithfully for me.—(Mrs.) Hermine Eberle, Ulm, Wurttemberg, Germany.
