Several years ago there appeared at the side of the nail of my right middle finger a very sore spot. In spite of my efforts to rise above this, it grew steadily worse. In a few days I called a Christian Science practitioner and asked for help, which was lovingly and faithfully given. The finger, however, grew steadily worse, and as the inflammation and swelling had reached my upper arm it seemed wise to have it lanced. This was done, an incision being made by a surgeon whose advice was to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. A clean dressing was applied each day and the truth about God's child, not a poisonous belief, held to and declared. At the end of three days I returned to my work; and at the end of two weeks the old nail came off and a new one was forming, which has since developed into as perfect a one as any of the others. This was a beautiful proof to me. But about eighteen months later another sore place presented itself on the same finger during my Christmas vacation. The first day I noticed it, I retired to my room with the Bible and Science and Health. After reading some time I had these thoughts, that we had to prove all things with Truth and with no material help, and that I must love and rejoice that my real selfhood was God's spiritual likeness, free from any material poison. The next morning I was free. This experience has given me much courage. I am learning each day to rely more on the one Mind.

I am most grateful for the life of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who was strong enough to raise the standard of Truth in this, our day.
