My first healing in Christian Science was the overcoming...
My first healing in Christian Science was the overcoming of the necessity for glasses, which had been worn for some years. At the time Christian Science found me, and for some months previous, my eyes had been giving me much difficulty, making it necessary for me to have treatments by an eye specialist at short intervals, also a frequent change of glasses. While I was facing the necessity of having them changed again, a member of my family who had just had a very remarkable healing of a so-called incurable disease, remarked to me that possibly Christian Science could help my eyes, and recommended an interview with a practitioner before again seeing the specialist. Although the healing just mentioned had occurred in the home, at that time I knew little or nothing of the vastness of this great healing power; but being desirous to know more about it, I rejoiced at the opportunity of visiting a practitioner; and that very day made an appointment for the purpose.
It was a joyous experience, the conversation held with the practitioner; for she told me things about God that I had never before heard. She also questioned me about my faith in God. Before having treatment it was impossible for me to read small-sized print without my glasses, but after one treatment was given, I could see the letters clearly. This was a little over sixteen years ago. The healing has been permanent.
A few years previous to my knowledge of Christian Science, a slight operation was performed on my throat for severe chronic throat trouble, which had been with me since childhood. After the operation the attacks were less frequent; but the cause had not been removed, so the trouble continued. A few weeks after the healing of my eyes, this condition was also healed. The healing of any discordant condition, of whatever name or nature, comes through the understanding of man's relation to God.
