A letter signed by an "M. D." in your recent issue contains a reference to Christian Science which might be misleading to some of your readers; therefore we ask permission to submit a statement. Your correspondent, while admitting that Christian Science at times proves of value in cases "when the ailment is purely psychic, with no structural disturbance as the underlying cause," denies that it heals organic disease, and also implies that Christian Science treatment is suggestion. The writer of that letter has shown a decided lack of understanding as to how God's law as applied in Christian Science heals, and as to what kind of disease it heals. Any one can investigate without difficulty and determine to his own satisfaction that organic disease is healed in Christian Science as readily as functional disease. The Christian Science Journal, monthly, and the Christian Science Sentinel, weekly, contain testimonies from persons who have been relieved from diseases called organic, as well as functional diseases, by the ministration of this method of healing, the application of God's law as recorded in the Bible, which was taught, preached, and practiced by Jesus of Nazareth—the same law that was discovered by Mary Baker Eddy and given to the world in her book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

As to comparing healing in Christian Science with that of suggestion, there is nothing whatever in common between the two. Healing by suggestion is based on the belief in many minds. Christian Science is based on the understanding of the one Mind, or God, which is reflected by man, who is governed by spiritual law. And as we gain an understanding of this law, we can make practical use of it.
