Before becoming interested in Christian Science I was...

Before becoming interested in Christian Science I was under medical treatment for a tumor, and was told an operation was necessary. While I was in this condition, my husband came home from work one day with a Christian Science pamphlet entitled, "A Religion of Love." I asked him what the little book was, and he answered: "Oh, it 's one of those Christian Science books. One of the men gave it to me to-day while I was looking for a newspaper to read." I read the pamphlet, and the wonderful truths I found there gave me such inspiration that I asked where I could get more of this beautiful literature. My husband made my desire known to the one who had given him the pamphlet; and a few days later I received through the mail copies of The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel.

Finally my husband and I went to the Christian Science Reading Room and purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. On our return home that night my desire was to read this book. As it was late, I intended to read just a few pages; but I became so interested that I forgot all about time, and read until far into the morning. During this first reading of the textbook my thoughts became so spiritualized that I was freed of belief in the power of medicine; and the healing of the tumor followed. This healing took place over six years ago, and I have had no return of the trouble. I have also been healed of headaches from which I had suffered since my childhood.

I cannot number the beautiful healings and blessings which have come to me and to my family since we found this wonderful truth. My sincere desire is that I may each day practice what I learn about God through our revered Leader's writings, so that I may let my light so shine before men that they may see the good work Christian Science does for mankind.
