Lately, more than ever, I enjoy the testimonies in our periodicals. One Christmas it came to me that, as the wise men followed the bright star to find the Bethlehem babe and took gifts with them, so it is to-day. As seekers of the truth we are following the light of spiritual understanding, and with joy and gladness we are bringing our gifts, the fruits of Christian Science as given in the testimonies.
I am very thankful for the healings I have received through Christian Science. In 1914, after the doctor's statement that only an immediate operation could, perhaps, save me, I was healed of appendicitis through Christian Science, with the loving help of a friend. Then I took up the study of Christian Science and was healed of bowel trouble, headaches, sensitiveness, and superstitious thoughts with their fears and limitations. I also was helped to overcome the burden of thoughts of heredity, and with this healing came a great sense of freedom and protection. I also learned through the study of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, not only how I was healed, but also how to practice this religion and how to understand the Bible.
I am very grateful to the friends who helped me onward, and for the untiring work of our practitioners. I am full of gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who pointed out for us the way to find "one shepherd and one fold."
