Before hearing of Christian Science I went through deep...
Before hearing of Christian Science I went through deep waters. Much sickness came into my home and remained there several months. We could not understand the cause of the trouble, but finally came to the conclusion that the town in which we lived was unhealthy. We therefore decided to leave the place, and went to an inland watering place in search of health. Here Christian Science was brought to my notice; and many times since have I rejoiced that at that time I was of an open mind. Most earnestly I looked into this teaching, and after a while I was brought out of great bondage. Dissatisfaction gave place to contentment in my business career, and gradually this made my life much happier. As a result of this many difficulties were overcome.
Through great fear of east winds as having power to harm, I was a constant sufferer from chest trouble; and not until I knew the truth of being, as explained by our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, was I freed from this fear and its effects. In working out one's problems a Christian Scientist sees the necessity to reason things out. I found, on analyzing the thought of east winds as having evil power, that the root of the whole trouble was my wrong thinking, caused through fear. I then saw that an east wind had no more power to harm than a wind from the south. I also saw how inconsistent I had been, knowing that God is omnipotent. It is now many years since I first took up the study of Christian Science, and during these years I have had good health.
I hardly know how to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me and for other members of my family; but God already knows.
