Although Christian Science healed my mother over eighteen...
Although Christian Science healed my mother over eighteen years ago, I did not become interested in its teachings until five years ago.
While in the army I became a very heavy cigarette smoker, and if I could not sleep at night I always commenced smoking. Shortly after my discharge from the army I went with my brother, who was suffering from the results of gas poisoning, to a Christian Science practitioner. He was healed very quickly. While there the practitioner offered to help me overcome the smoking habit, and an instantaneous healing followed the treatment given. I have never had the slightest desire to smoke since.
In December, 1920, while I was employed in a steel foundry, a small piece of hot metal became embedded in the pupil of my eye. I was taken to the hospital and the metal was removed, but my condition was considered serious. For two days I could not sleep, and suffered incessant and very severe pain; I also became blind, and the eye discharged a thick fluid. I applied for Christian Science treatment and the pain was quickly overcome, but still I could not see. The firm that employed me then sent me to an eye specialist, who took a very serious view of the case and asked me to submit to medical treatment; but I was determined to rely on God for the healing. I received letters from the eye specialist pointing out the folly of relying on Christian Science in such a case, but in spite of this through Christian Science treatment my sight was quickly restored and has been quite normal ever since. Since then I have had several healings of minor complaints, and have found Christian Science a constant help in my daily life.
