Since 1916 I had been afflicted with a lung disease and was constantly under medical treatment; but the trouble became worse, until no hope of recovery remained. To this ailment was added sciatica. It was only with difficulty that I could walk by leaning on a cane. Then followed dropsy of the feet and legs, and tympanitis in both ears, so that I was entirely deaf. As medical help was of no avail, we turned to Christian Science, of which we learned through a dear neighbor. Through the loving help of a practitioner I was freed from all my troubles.
My husband was suffering from an ulcer of the stomach, and severe hemorrhages set in. He could eat scarcely anything, and for about a year and a half was constantly under medical treatment, but found no help. He went to the Christian Science practitioner and was healed in one treatment. On the way home he felt very hungry, and at supper he ate heartily. Since that day he has been able to eat everything. In 1908 my husband had broken his shoulder while at work and, as a result of this accident, his arm had become almost stiff. According to medical opinions it would never be well again. But we worked further in Christian Science, with the result that in a short time my husband was healed and could use his arm again. Ever since we have known of Christian Science we have not employed a physician.
For the many healings and blessings and the spiritual uplift which this teaching has brought to us, words could not express out gratitude to God. We have known the truth, and the truth has made us free. We also wish to express our gratitude to our dear Mrs. Eddy, that she has shown us the way to Truth and to happiness.
