[Written for the Sentinel]

All-sufficient

Dear Mother-Love, so infinitely tender,
Guiding, protecting, all along the way;
No cause have we to doubt Thy loving presence,
No fear that we need ever go astray.

We need no arms but Thine to safely hold us,
No voice but Thine to guide our steps aright;
No love but Thine to comfort and enfold us,
Illume our darkness with Thy perfect light.

So shall we journey, safe in this assurance,
Trusting Thy love to shield from every strife,
Turning to Thee alone for every comfort,—
Complete in Thee we find our perfect life.
