It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I send this...
It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I send this testimony of a few of the many blessings I have received from the study and application of Christian Science. My mother began the study of Christian Science when I was a very small child, so that my earliest teachings were the application of Truth to my smallest need.
While we were living in Mexico there was an epidemic of smallpox. My younger brother and I were taken with a very serious form of the disease, but our faith in Christian Science to take care of us was so strong that we did not fear. Treatment in Christian Science was rendered, and we were healed.
One afternoon a child slammed the door of our car, fastening it on the two middle fingers of my hand. We were in a closed car and the fingers were caught on the hinge side of the door. It was necessary to unlatch the door to release the fingers. We immediately declared the truth, but the pain was so intense that we drove to the home of a near-by practitioner. Help was immediately given, with the result that in less than twenty minutes all the pain had left and we drove home. The fingers presented a sorry picture to the physical senses, but the next day only a slight discoloration remained, and no soreness. I went as usual about my household duties, being but slightly inconvenienced by the hand. I did not lose either nail, as had seemed almost inevitable. This was a beautiful demonstration and one for which I am very grateful, because it proved beyond a doubt the omnipresence of God. I have also been healed in two days of a very severe attack of sciatic rheumatism, the pain being for a while so severe that I could not move.
