Unlimited Business

Whatever the reason which impels one to begin the study of Christian Science, it will not be long before the insistence of this Science on the allness of Spirit and the unreality of matter is recognized. Many who find little difficulty in accepting the first of these truths quite fail to see that it logically and necessarily requires the acceptance of the second. If Spirit, God, is All, then matter, Spirit's opposite, is nothing. Little progress in the understanding of Christian Science can be made until this is realized and its demonstration begun.

Limitation in one form or another is the inevitable accompaniment of belief in the reality of matter, and therefore limitation will seem to be part of human experience until such erroneous belief is corrected by the Christ, Truth, as taught in Christian Science. The work of every one who has glimpsed something of this truth is so to live that the sense of limitation shall be broken down through the realization of the infinitude of Spirit. And this must be done in every department of life, including business.

At first sight it may seem a very difficult thing to demonstrate the unreality of matter in business life. Business seems to be such an essentially materialistic process, apparently entirely concerned with the selling of material goods or services, in return for which one receives material reward or its equivalent. For some years the business world has, in belief, been passing through what is termed a slump, or depression, and even the cleverest and most experienced men have been forced to admit that they sometimes are at the end of their resources; but Mrs. Eddy, breaking in on the false material sense of existence, this dream of limitation, tells us in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 60), "Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul."
