It is with a very grateful heart I testify to what the truth as taught in Christian Science has done for me. I am one of those who have reaped the fruits of what our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, gave to the world. When I first heard of Christian Science I had been suffering from hip disease for ten years. I had visited three hospitals and had also been in a convalescent home. I underwent three surgical operations, from which I received temporary relief; but the time came when I was told all had been done for me that was possible, and I returned home to get along the best I could.

For the next nine years I went about on crutches, until one day a dear friend who was interested in Christian Science spoke to me about all the beautiful work that had been done through studying Mrs. Eddy's books, and also offered to lend me some copies of the Christian Science Sentinel to read. I am afraid I took them rather reluctantly, as I could not see how Christian Science could help me after all the treatment I had been through had failed. But what a revelation there was in store for me! I took the Sentinels home and found the testimonies, speaking of all the blessings others had received. While I was reading these, the thought came to me, that if this were true there must be the same help for me, since "God is no respecter of persons." The next few days were spent in trying to find out how the healing work was done. When I went to see my friend again, she kindly lent me "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and also offered to help me. In three weeks I was so uplifted and helped that I was able to throw off my splints and discard my crutches and commenced to walk and work again,—a thing I had not done for over ten years, and never thought to do again. I have been constantly at work for over nine years, without a day off.
