I consider it a great privilege to acknowledge some of the blessings I have received through the study and application of Christian Science.
About seven years ago, after an attack of pneumonia, my condition was such as to indicate tuberculosis. I had pains in my chest and back, and was so weak at times I could scarcely do my housework. I had been under the care of a physician for five months, but did not seem to be getting any relief at all; so one day I decided to try another physician. After making an examination he said my lungs were very much affected, and advised me to go south to a sanitarium. This I did. When I arrived there I was examined by the two physicians in charge, and they said, "Yes, your lungs are very bad." When I asked how long they thought I should stay there, they said they did not know; that I would never be healed, only helped for the time being. It was while there that I became interested in Christian Science. A relative sent me some of the literature, and I began to read and understand that God is All-in-all, and can and will help us in every need, and that there is really nothing to fear.
I was in the sanitarium six weeks. I awoke one morning feeling that I must go home; so I went to the physician and told him I was going. He said that I was doing the wrong thing; that I had not been there long enough to see if there would be a change for the better. I told him that if I had only a short while to live I wanted to be with my family all I could; so I went home.
