I came to Christian Science because there was nowhere...

I came to Christian Science because there was nowhere else to go, but not primarily for physical healing. I hoped, however, that later I should be able to take off glasses which I had worn for fourteen years. Although I was raised in a so-called orthodox church and brought up on the Bible, I had gradually grown away from both, because I could not understand how a just, all-knowing God could punish me for things I could not help doing. Christian Science corrected this false concept. Domestic troubles, unsuccessful business experiences, discontent, and constant desire for change, along with smoking, swearing, and other errors of the average mortal, greatly increased by self-will, were making life unbearable. Some of these problems have been worked out, and the others are being solved as I learn to be more obedient to divine Principle. Now I have my own home, am moderately successful, and know that if faithful over a few things I shall later be ruler over many. I have a sense of well-being and contentment for which I cannot begin to express my gratitude in words.

I have put the mental healing first because it is the most important to me; but there have been many physical healings also. To mention the more serious ones: glasses have been discarded; ptomaine poisoning has been overcome; my wife and I were healed of influenza in two days; and ulcerated tooth, eczema, and many minor ailments have yielded to the truth.—Edgar H. Martin, Dallas, Texas.
