Introductions to Lectures

Schenectady, New York (First Church).

Lecturer: Frank Bell. Introducer: Elmer E. H. Pepper.

It is probably true that most of the students of our faith and practice have become such through the healing influence of its doctrine. One reason for this may be that most people are anxious to be relieved of the ills that are making them uncomfortable. Upon relief from pain and sickness comes also the awakening to the fact that health is not a physical condition, but that it is as much a spiritual quality as wisdom, purity, or spiritual understanding. And so the restoration to a more normal condition through the practice and application of God's law is like the sound of a trumpet arousing them to greater activities in new fields of endeavor, where they learn the meaning of the charge which Jesus gave when he said, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
