It may appear that occult phenomena seem to touch truly...

Times,

It may appear that occult phenomena seem to touch truly spiritual phenomena, inasmuch as these become confused in the minds of inquirers. Hence it is well to have it made plain that there is nothing in common between spiritualism and Christian Science. The basis of Christian Science precept and practice is the Scriptural teaching that God, the only cause and creator of the universe, is infinite, incorporeal Spirit, and that man, made in God's image and likeness, is spiritual, incorporeal, reflecting the spiritual qualities of his creator. The Bible states explicitly that "they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God." Yet in the face of that definite statement the claim is made by some that man is material and corporeal, and that this material corporeality can become spiritual, although, according to Scripture, matter and Spirit are "contrary the one to the other." Because of its scientific nature Christian Science offers a reasonable and satisfactory explanation for all phenomena. Writings on page 80 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" in the chapter entitled "Christian Science versus Spiritualism," Mrs. Eddy says: "It is mysticism which gives spiritualism its force. Science dispels mystery and explains extraordinary phenomena; but Science never removes phenomena from the domain of reason into the realm of mysticism." the marvelous healing work accomplished by Christian Science is not the result of blind faith, but is rather an evidence that the unchanging law of God, which was declared and demonstrated by Christ Jesus, has again been made available by Christian Science. The spiritual understanding of the divine Principle and rules whereby these healings are wrought, is for all, even as Jesus indicated when he said, "He that believeth on me [understandeth my teachings], the works that I do shall he do also."
