In reviewing the past few years, I recall the words from the book of Daniel, "Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard." From the day that I commenced the serious study of Christian Science, about fifteen years ago, there has been a steady progress in thought, and consequently in outward conditions; and it has thus been proved to me that from the day we wholeheartedly turn to God, our salvation or healing begins.
When Christian Science was offered to me I was in poor circumstances, discontented because it seemed such an unjust world, and envious of those in better conditions. From the first, my efforts to follow the teachings of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, were persistent; and although my affirmations of Truth and denials of error were feeble, and made with but little understanding, yet my business prospects and home conditions began at once to improve; and that improvement continued until the day came when I was able to find all the employment needed.
During the great war there seemed to be a check to this progress, as I was sent to France for nearly two years. The need, however, was met; and my business, in a prosperous condition, was handed back to me on my return. While I was in France several moves took place; but in each case, through my holding persistently to the truth as declared in the twenty-third psalm, the move was to an improved position; also, during this period wonderful protection was experienced.
