The grace of infinite Love revealed to mankind in Christian Science,...

The grace of infinite Love revealed to mankind in Christian Science, "healing sickness and destroying sin," as we read in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 241), has healed and blessed me, so that I feel deep love and gratitude for it.

My mother commenced to study Christian Science when I was a small child, and something of its helpfulness has been realized in my experience for more than twenty years. During childhood I was healed of mumps in one day, and was quickly relieved of chicken pox and whooping cough. Occasional severe headaches, which were supposed to have been inherited, left me and have not appeared for more than ten years. Extreme temperamental sensitiveness to the thought of pain or disease has also disappeared.

The following is an account of a healing which occurred more recently. I had been conscious of pain in the arch of my right foot all day while shopping in the city, and late in the afternoon purchased a copy of Science and Health. While standing in the station waiting for the interurban car, I thought of this book,—that it was the result of pure demon stration and expressed the very realization of spiritual existence,—and the meaning of Mrs. Eddy's work unfolded. I became conscious that the pain in my foot was gone; and it has never returned. Mrs. Eddy says (ibid., p. 150), "Now, as then, signs and wonders are wrought in the metaphysical healing of physical disease; but these signs are only to demonstrate its divine origin,—to attest the reality of the higher mission of the Christ-power to take away the sins of the world." I am most grateful for the alleviation of selfishness and condemnation; for the healing of unhappiness; and for a vision of the unreality of animal magnetism.
