It is my desire to express my gratitude to God and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for the healing and protection I am constantly experiencing through Christian Science. The following is but one of the many healings I have experienced. In February, 1919, one day while eating lunch, I was taken very ill. My mother telephoned at once to a practitioner, who gave me absent treatments; but I gradually grew worse, and finally a severe case of pneumonia developed. In obedience to the law we called the health officer, who was also a practicing physician. He told my mother he thought I would not live through the night; and I constantly grew worse. When morning came, it was very difficult for me to breathe, and I suffered intense pain; so mother asked the practitioner to come to the house. He was in the room only a few minutes when I began to improve; and when he returned to his home an hour later I was completely healed. Two hours later, when dinner was served, I ate heartily with no bad results. "Truth is an alterative in the entire system, and can make it 'every whit whole,'" as Mrs. Eddy says in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 371); and our textbook also tells us (p. 224), "No power can withstand divine Love."
