[Written for the Sentinel]

The Angels' Message

Angels brought a wondrous message
Years ago to all the earth,
Singing, Peace, good will, glad tidings,
As they heralded the birth
Of the gentle, Christlike Jesus,
He who came that all might know
Of the Father's loving-kindness
To His children here below.

So, to-day, sweet angel voices
Sing the same refrain again;
And 't is heard the wide world over
By the listening hearts of men.
Peace it brings and glorious freedom
From the senses' cruel thrall,
As we prove, through understanding,
Love's dominion over all.
