Signs of the Times

[W. B. Harrison, as quoted in the Eagle Sunday Magazine, Wichita, Kansas]

Jesus defined his own mission thus: "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth." It is the duty and privilege of every Christian who understands the Master's teachings—and we are not really Christians until we do understand those teachings in some degree—to bear witness unto the truth; and that should be each one's hourly aim, and continually. Personal ambition, self-seeking, the pursuit of material pleasures and possessions can have no place in the life of a true Christian. Each endeavor must be subordinated to, and in line with, the might of right; it must be the seeking of God's kingdom first, as Jesus commanded.
