I wish to express my gratitude for all the good which I...
I wish to express my gratitude for all the good which I have received during six years through the understanding of Truth as taught in Christian Science.
When an acquaintance told me about the wonderful teaching of Mary Baker Eddy, I was immediately convinced that I had found the right way. According to several physicians who for ten years had treated me for a stomach trouble, a nervous complaint, and diseased lungs, I could take only very light food. I was often obliged to remain in bed for several days at a time. But since that evening when I heard about Christian Science for the first time, I have been able to eat anything that was put before me, even meat and potatoes, which I had not been able to eat without experiencing great pain. When I arose the next day, my relatives and servants were very much surprised at my altered condition. My children regarded me with surprise when I did not reprove them for the noise they made, which previous to this, as I always suffered from headaches, had been unbearable. It seemed to me to be incredible; but I was like a different person, and felt as if I had been born anew.
Since that time I have tried to demonstrate the truth which Mrs. Eddy has explained so clearly in her works, and it helps me to overcome all temptations and difficulties, in the full assurance that God is omnipotent, all Life, all Love. Many problems in the form of sorrow or illness have been healed by the understanding of Christian Science. In cases where my own understanding was not clear enough, my family and I have always been helped by kind practitioners. Not once have I succumbed to fear or to the temptation to return to physicians and medicine.
