The revelation that Christian Science is indeed the truth...

The revelation that Christian Science is indeed the truth came to me very clearly with the first treatment I received. I was healed instantly of an intense sense of fatigue and of periodic suffering, so that I was like new, and hardly recognized my own face when I saw it in a glass. But I little realized what mountains of erroneous and educated beliefs had to be laid low. However, though the way often seemed very dark, truly did I always hear, as promised in Isaiah, a word behind me saying, "This is the way, walk ye in it."

Following a severe illness, I had a swelling on the abdomen, from which I suffered for several years. I underwent two operations for this condition only to find myself "nothing bettered," but indeed much more miserable each time. Then I took my stand for Christian Science, and with the help of practitioners and my own growth in grace and understanding, I was healed, the swelling disappearing. While this healing was in progress I was also freed from chronic constipation. These healings were slow, but I have had many others, some of them instantaneous, and many—yes, daily—proofs of God's love and care, proofs which are the Christian Scientist's greatest joy, and of which the half has not been told. I have also been healed of resentment, of sensitiveness, and of other faults of character. Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for these healings; but above all I am grateful for learning to know God and the Christ aright, through the revelation of the truth which was given to this age by one who was chosen because of her purity and unselfishness to receive it.

A better understanding of the Bible has proved to me that Mrs. Eddy has indeed given us the "Key" to the Scriptures. From childhood I was troubled by the though of hell as a place of everlasting torment, to which, I was taught, a loving and just God consigned a great many of His children, His own creation. Finally I began to doubt if it were true, and of course this involved all my other religious beliefs, so that I began to doubt the existence of God also. Then must I have been among "the poor in spirit," and very lovingly was I led to ask the help of a Christian Science practitioner, with the result mentioned above. One of the first questions I asked her was what Christian Science taught about heaven and hell, and I shall never forget the peace that came to me with her explanation.
