My gratitude to God for Christian Science cannot be...
My gratitude to God for Christian Science cannot be expressed in words. For six years it has met every need. My first healing was of a severe pain in the right hip which had made me limp for months. This left in one treatment. Many other physical ills have been overcome, among which are influenza, sick headaches, and ptomaine poisoning. Many times lost articles have been recovered, much to the surprise of my friends. I have also found employment as a result of a practitioner's work in Science. Because of very little schooling I was thought incapable of holding a clerical position. During the World War I was offered such a position, and through the realization of man's relationship to God, both by myself and by my employer, who is a Christian Scientist, the demonstration was made.
When Christian Science was very new to me, the protecting power of God was made manifest. While I was riding along a very narrow road in an automobile, through careless driving the car plunged into an irrigation canal about five feet deep. We were covered with water, and I struggled to find a way out. Finally I gave up, and the thought came, Is this to be the end? Immediately came the answer, No, we are in God's hands. Instantly my left foot seemed to be jerked through an opening, through which I backed out; and then I reached down and pulled out the driver. There were five in the car, and not one was lost. My hand was deeply gashed by the broken windshield, but healed rapidly. In looking back I realize that there was no fear during this experience, and that I swallowed no water at all. I am also most grateful for the overcoming of wrong thinking and acting.
I want to express here my gratitude to the practitioners and friends who so unselfishly gave of their time that I might be healed. My gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy, whose purity and love made these things possible, is boundless. (Mrs.) MARGARET VE VERKA, San Marcial, New Mexico.
