Six years ago a friend begged me to try Christian Science at a time when there seemed to be no other hope, as the doctors had given me only a short time to live. Although I had no faith in Christian Science, I asked for help because my friend wanted me to do so.

The greater part of my life had been spent in suffering, and many operations, abdominal as well as throat and nose, had been performed, yet the abdominal growth was increasing in size. When distressing bronchial trouble of years' standing grew so much worse that two specialists were attending me, I was told trouble could could not be cured, as a germ had attacked the bronchial tubes and they were rapidly closing. At this point I asked for Christian Science treatment, and it was lovingly given. In twelve hours my breathing was quiet and peaceful. In three days I was entirely healed, and the peace that passes understanding settled down upon me and I was lifted out of the dread and unhappiness that had been mine for so long. As I studied our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the wonderful light of Love dawned on me, and every new day became more quiet and peaceful and beautiful than the one before; and I was a well and happy woman, learning each day a little more of the truth of God and man, and to love my neighbor as myself. To me, in those early days, the most beautiful and wonderful thing was the getting rid of the old sense of a far-away God in the form of a man, and knowing Him little by little as the Father-Mother God, the God of tender love, omnipotent, omnipresent Spirit, who knows only good.

Christian Science has healed me of many other ills,—cancer, an abdominal growth, and an ear trouble of long standing, the last through the reading of our textbook. I am also overcoming impatience, as well as criticism and many other old faults. I could not begin to express my joy and gratitude to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her years of patienttoil while making the way plain to us, for the high standard she set for us, and for the love she taught us to have for God and man.
