SOMERVILLE, MASSACHUSETTS (First Church).—When introducing Miss Margaret Murney Glenn, a Christian Science lecturer, to her audience, Mrs. Lina M. Hooper made the following remarks:—

A better understanding of God as Love always brings happiness. A keen remembrance of the change wrought in my own life through this understanding came to me recently when a book entitled "Hymns which Every Child Should Know" came to my attention, and was opened casually at "Before Jehovah's Awful Throne." How vividly it brought back a picture of the God to whom I prayed as a child,—a God to be feared,—a God who took away loved ones and brought sickness and all kinds of discord, and yet who was considered a loving Father! Little wonder that in time, after such illogical teaching, I developed into a cynic and an agnostic. And then Christian Science was presented to me, with its compassionate teaching of the God who loves us and cares for us, and in whose presence we may always feel secure. Physical healing has been experienced and is gratefully acknowledged, but the inexpressible gratitude is for the peace and joy resulting from this teaching.
