Through reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was cured of the smoking habit. This healing was divine, as previously I had no thought or desire to quit smoking. While reading this book I found myself not wanting to smoke; then the thought came to me, If you have no desire to smoke, why smoke? And the answer is, I have never smoked since. Also through reading Science and Health I have been cured of very bad headaches. When suffering from these headaches it seemed as though I could not exist without taking medicine. All this has been discarded, and I find I can live much better and easier without material remedies. Christian Science is gradually making me better. Spiritually, it has been the means of teaching me to know God, Christ, and the Holy Bible as I had never hoped to know them; also to realize my full duty to God and man, and the relationship thereof.

I realize I have but "touched the hem of his garment" and have a long way to go before reaching perfection; I also know that what I have learned of God through Christian Science no one can take from me and all the money that exists to-day could not buy. I write this that sin-sick, world-weary men and women may know there is a refuge in Christian Science when all else has failed. I should think myself an ingrate indeed if I did not feel a deep and satisfying sense of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the spiritual uplift Christian Science has brought to me. I am grateful to God for "the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" which is abroad in the land to-day and is setting men free.
