A recent issue contains an article entitled, "Mrs. Eddy to Reappear in the Flesh." The fact that the Church Manual is to have Mrs. Eddy's name on page 21, as formerly, is in accordance with the wishes of the whole movement, including The Christian Science Board of Directors of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, that the Manual should remain as it was during Mrs. Eddy's lifetime. No superstitious beliefs accompany this decision, and any hint of such superstitious beliefs emanates from those who no longer belong to the Christian Science movement, and are therefore not to be taken as authority on such matters. Such beliefs have no place in the teachings of Christian Science. Mrs. Eddy's true followers are taught in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," written by her, to turn away from personality, whether it is supposed to be in the flesh or out of the flesh, and to strive earnestly to conform their lives and their thinking to divine Principle.
