My heart is overflowing with gratitude, and I wish...

My heart is overflowing with gratitude, and I wish to give thanks to God for all the healings I have experienced, and for the harmony and peace that have come into my life through the study of Christian Science during the past seventeen years. With a hope that some one may be benefited, I wish to tell of a remarkable case of mental surgery recently experienced by a member of my family.

About three or four years ago there appeared on my little son's face a hard lump or growth, called a wen by a physician to whom my husband took the child. This condition, while never painful, was most disfiguring to the child's looks. My husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, insisted that it would have to be removed by surgical means; but I never could consent to this. So nothing was done about it, until I returned from a Christian Science lecture one day so filled with a sense of love and the perfect assurance of the all-power and presence of God that immediately upon entering my home I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner, asking for help for the removal of this growth from the child's face. During the next few days three or four treatments were given. At the end of the second week I noticed that the growth seemed to have spread over a larger surface of the face; and fear tried to argue that perhaps a physician would have to remove it after all. I, however, tried to cling to God as Christian Science teaches us how to do. At the end of four weeks, while I sat with the child on my lap reading the Lesson-Sermon for the week, the growth opened suddenly and discharged its contents. In a few days the baglike skin dried up and came off, leaving a beautiful new skin underneath with no trace of the growth except a small scar.

For this healing I am deeply grateful to our Father-Mother God and His Christ, and to our dear, beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I am also grateful to the kind and faithful practitioner who so thoroughly demonstrated the truth that made this healing possible. My one desire is to know more of God, and to live daily so that I may be worthy of the name Christian Scientist.—(Mrs.) Violet R. Reynolds, Washington, D. C.
