Pound Sterling Rate of Exchange

Under Notes from the Publishing House in the Sentinel for September 13, 1924, it was announced that, effective November 1, 1924, subscriptions and orders from those living where the English Pound Sterling is the established money standard should be accompanied by cash based on the current rate of exchange, instead of $4.86 to the Pound Sterling. In view of the complications resulting from the proposed change, it has been decided to establish the fixed rate at $4.50 to the Pound Sterling, effective November 1, 1924. Ample notice will be given the field of any intended change in this rate. One Dollar Combination Offer

We believe that the field will be interested in a new One Dollar Combination Subscription offer comprising the various periodicals, as follows:—
One Journal
Sentinel for four weeks

One Quarterly
Monitor for ten days

Inasmuch as this is a special offer, no change will be made in the combination a given above, with the exception that either Der Herold or Le Héraut may be substituted in place of the Journal, and instead of the English Quarterly, the German, French, or Dutch Quarterly will be sent upon request.

To comply with postal regulations, orders for gift subscriptions should include the name of the donor. If name of donor is omitted, subscriptions cannot be entered.

This offer is made primarily to afford individuals an opportunity to acquaint friends who are becoming interested in Christian Science with our periodicals. Distribution Committees and Reading Rooms may also take advantage of this offer, but no discount will be allowed.

Beginning with the October–December, 1924, issue, an edition of the Christian Science Quarterly will be published, approximately the size of The Christian Science Journal and with large type, suitable for use with the Large Type Edition of Science and Health and the Bible of corresponding size. Price 35 cents per copy; subscription price $1.40 per year.

Orders for Bibles, Subscriptions, et cetera

Articles and Testimonies

Articles from members of The Mother Church and good testimonies from those healed by Christian Science are always welcomed for consideration by the Editors. They should be typewritten (double spaced) or written legibly, on one side of the paper only; and the addresses given should be complete; also the source of all quotations should be given. Women should use the title "Miss" or "Mrs.," and married women should sign their own names in full, instead of the names of their husbands.

Testimonies should be verified by three members of The Mother Church; and in the case of a member or an attendant of a branch church one of the verifiers should be the clerk or some other officer of that church, who has either witnessed the healing or can vouch for the integrity of the testifier. In the verification of testimonies by a church officer, the title of the office should be given. An affidavit made before a Notary Public is acceptable, if the testifier does not know three members of The Mother Church.

Manuscripts for publication in the Journal and Sentinel, whether articles, poems, or testimonies, and correspondence relating thereto, should not be addressed to individuals, but to the Editorial Department, The Christian Science Publishing Society, Back Bay Station, Boston, Massachusetts.

Compliance with the foregoing will greatly facilitate the work of the Editorial Department.

From the Church Treasurer

Per Capita Tax, as provided in the Church Manual, Article VIII, Section 13, is due annually from "every member of The Mother Church," and "shall be forwarded each year to the Church Treasurer." This tax of "not less than one dollar" may be paid at any time during the year, but should be forwarded preferably during the six months' period from October to March following the date (June 1) on which it becomes due. When a remittance for church dues is more than the amount required to balance one's account, the surplus is credited for the present year.

Contributions to The Christian Science Benevolent Association are acceptable; contributions may also be made to the General Fund of The Mother Church, to the Real Estate Fund, and to the Christian Science Pleasant View Home Fund.

Please make all remittances payable to Edward L. Ripley, Treasurer, and send them to him at 236 Huntington Avenue, Back Bay Station, Boston, Massachusetts.
