I should like to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science...
I should like to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science and for the many wonderful blessings I have experienced. The first two physical healings seem to stand out from all the rest, inasmuch as I had been reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy for only about two months.
My first healing was that of water on the knee, caused by an injury. My husband, not being at all interested in Christian Science at this time, insisted that I call a doctor. The doctor came and immediately put my limb in a cast, saying I should have to wear it about two weeks. In about ten days he called and removed the cast, to find no improvement whatsoever. After another examination he informed us that the limb would have to be put into another cast, which would have to be worn indefinitely. My husband was present and, hearing the verdict, asked the doctor to wait until the following day. After the doctor had left, my husband gave his consent for me to have Christian Science treatment. I called a practitioner, and was entirely healed in four treatments.
My second healing was that of tonsillitis. I had been in bondage to it since early childhood. I had been suffering for two days from this particular attack, and the morning of the second day I had a very high fever. My husband did not like to leave me alone; but it seemed necessary for him to be at his place of business, so I insisted that he go. I could not speak above a whisper at this time. About four o'clock in the afternoon a friend who was not at that time interested in Christian Science called to see me. I asked her if she knew anything about abscesses. She laughingly said, "I know enough about them to know that you have n't any." I was healed at that moment. The fear of an abscess had been holding me, although I had not told the practitioner of my fear. I arose, dressed myself, and went to the home of my friend for dinner. About nine o'clock in the evening my husband returned home to find me entirely healed. He finally managed to say, "Well, this is beyond my expectations." It is needless for me to say that both my husband and my friend are now students of Christian Science. These healings took place six years ago, and have been permanent.
