A little over six years ago I became interested in Christian Science

A little over six years ago I became interested in Christian Science. At that time I was suffering from extreme nervousness and many other distressing symptoms caused from goiter. Before turning to Christian Science I had tried every method of treatment known to the medical profession, including a surgical operation; but, like the woman of whom we are told in the Bible, I "was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse." At this point some friends asked me to try Christian Science. I at once asked for treatment from a practitioner, and was helped from the beginning. The healing of the nervousness was slow; but had it been otherwise I should not have studied the Bible or "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy as I did, thereby gaining a better understanding of the truth, as taught in Christian Science.

While being treated for the nervousness, I was healed of other diseases, such as rheumatism and neuralgia, and was able to lay aside glasses. I might add that after the first or second treatment the glasses were discarded. As I continued to study the teachings of our revered Leader, in connection with the Bible, and to put them into practice, the nervousness began to vanish; and to the extent that I am faithful in applying the teachings of Christian Science, the healing is complete. The goiter has also been entirely healed.

It has been proved to me that Christian Science is preventive as well as curative. Our son, now five years of age, has been protected from contagion many times. Two instances in particular, I remember, when he was exposed to whooping cough and to mumps; in both instances he was protected from contagion by knowing that good is all-powerful and fills all space, and that there is nothing to catch but good. He has been healed of measles. Another member of the family has been healed of a stubborn case of hiccough. We have had other healings, too numerous to mention.
