Christian Science came into our home about three years...
Christian Science came into our home about three years ago. While we did not turn to it for healing, we have experienced many healing through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and with the help of a loving practitioner.
We were very young in Science when my husband met with a serious accident, causing fracture of the skull. He was taken to the hospital, and loving friends came for me. The doctor, a prominent surgeon, told me that with a fracture of that nature my husband could live but a few hours. I called a Christian Science practitioner on the telephone, and I shall never forget the answer she gave me when I told her the doctor's verdict: "It makes no difference what they say! God is Spirit, and man is His image and likeness; therefore we are spiritual. There are no accidents in divine Mind." This happened on a Friday. On Sunday, when I went to the hospital, my husband knew me, and called for me. The doctors said they could not understand it, and also said that if he got better it would be a long time before he would be able to leave the hospital. Inside of three weeks, he was at home again. The left side of his face was paralyzed. The doctor had said that a specialist would be necessary to cure this, but in a short time this condition was healed through Christian Science. The doctor had said it would be a year before my husband would be able to work again. The accident happened in November, and in April he was at work again,—much to the surprise of every one.
I myself was healed in three days of an organic trouble of twenty years' standing; and many other healings have come into our little family. To say we are grateful is putting it mildly. We are more than grateful for these healings: grateful to that dear, pure woman who gave us this wonderful truth; grateful to God, and to the loving practitioner; grateful that Christian Science is something tangible, something we can apply to everything every day, something which heals every discordant condition, and makes harmony, health, and holiness apparent.
