"Where two or three are gathered together"

The promise of our Master, Christ Jesus, in the words, "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them," is of special import to every sincere student of Christianity to-day. If we are to prove the value of the Christian religion in our experience by the healing of sickness and the saving from sin, we must recognize the necessity of doing our work together, expressing that unity which is true spiritual cooperation. The Bible is full of instances showing the need of a proper understanding of the fact that if we are to gain the fulfillment of the wonderful promises extended to us as sons of God and "joint-heirs with Christ," we must seek our own welfare in another's good; that in thus helping to bear our brother's burden, we may "fulfil the law of Christ."

It must be obvious that in order to accomplish this result we must learn to work together. Our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, shows this clearly by providing in a variety of ways for such unity of action. Those who are faithfully endeavoring to follow her inspired leading will find absolutely safe guidance in the Manual of The Mother Church. Any mode of procedure which at any time fails to come into line with that which is laid down in the Manual is erroneous, and should be avoided, no matter how near it may appear to be, or how specious the argument local conditions may put forward in support of its adoption.

Among the many gatherings of people all over the world who are earnestly striving to gain an understanding of Mrs. Eddy's revelation of divine Love, it is not in the least surprising to find so-called mortal mind trying to prevent the consummation of such a spiritual desire. One of the ways in which it tries to accomplish this end is to separate these seekers from one another by discouraging and disheartening them. This can always be successfully met by united action in accord with the Manual, whenever anything connected with the field has to be accomplished; as Nehemiah tells us that "all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate."
