Christian Science teaches that the real only is eternal

Commercial Tribune

Christian Science teaches that the real only is eternal. On page 264 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy states, "Spirit and its formations are the only realities of being. Matter disappears under the microscope of Spirit. Sin is unsustained by Truth, and sickness and death were overcome by Jesus, who proved them to be forms of error." Sickness and sin may seem real to the one who knows nothing of the truth of being; but as one awakens to the recognition of the fact that God is All, and that there is none beside Him, that God made and governs all, these erroneous conditions are overcome or destroyed and so proved unrealities. A dictionary gives as a definition of reality, "That which is real; an actual existence; that which is not imagination, fiction, or pretense;" and this is the sense in which the word "reality" is invariably used in Mrs. Eddy's several works. Christian Science is a sure remedy for sin and suffering of every name and nature.
