It would be impossible to tell of all the wonderful demonstrations...
It would be impossible to tell of all the wonderful demonstrations I have received through Christian Science, not only physically but mentally, for I am learning to be happier, finding peace and harmony where before I found discord and unrest.
Perhaps the best and most interesting demonstration I have had was of an inherited disease, supposed to be fatal. The first time of its appearance was at the age of seven. After some investigation my adopted parents were informed of the nature of the disease. They had been in Christian Science a number of years, but my mother was opposed to Christian Science treatment for me, so I was placed under two leading physicians of the town. In a short time they gave up the case, with the statement that they could do nothing for me; that it would be impossible for me to live through the summer. After that my mother consented to Christian Science treatment. Within a week I was up; and what was more wonderful and incredible to human sense, the distressing and terrible symptoms which had afflicted my whole body were healed.
At a later period, when I was about twelve years old, the trouble in the form of a relapse appeared. Then ensued a long struggle and test of my reliance on God, for it was over three years before the false medical law of being incurable was entirely overcome. Although my progress was slow, I know now that it was sure, and needed to prove my faith and perseverance in adherence to the truth. An added proof of my healing, to those who question the power of Christian Science, occurred several years after the above experience, when, owing to circumstances, it seemed best to have my blood tested. The final blow was given to the verdict of "incurable disease" when, after a few days, the answer was given, "Test passed; no trace of disease." This demonstration outside of Christian Science would seem a miracle; but in Science it is only the result of obedience to a perfect and natural law of cause and effect, since God is good.
