The Christian peoples of the Occident are indeed asleep...

The Christian peoples of the Occident are indeed asleep to some of the subtle influences that endanger civilization and Christianity—so little do they understand the evil nature and hidden workings of hypnotic thought; and the professor's warning against invasion of the United States by "Far Eastern thought" is perhaps timely. But he mistakes the character and effects of Christian Science when he associates "the phenomenal growth of Christian Science" with what he denominates the "gradual Indianization of the religious life" of our nation. The natural and inevitable outgrowth of Christian Science, as taught by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, is not "Indianization"—far from it; rather is it spiritualization, which is but another way of saying "Christianization." Between Christian Science and the religion of the Hindu there is a "great gulf fixed." There is no magic or occultism, no hypnotism or materialism, in the teachings and practice of Christian Science, which is restoring, in its entirety, primitive Christianity as founded, taught, and practiced by Christ Jesus. The purely spiritual metaphysics of this Science of Christianity fundamentally differentiates it from all other systems of religion and methods of healing. In writing on this subject in her work "No and Yes" (p. 13), Mrs. Eddy states, "No greater opposites can be conceived of, physically, morally, and spiritually, than Christian Science, spiritualism, and theosophy."
