Christian Science is bringing hope, faith, courage, happiness,...

Christian Science is bringing hope, faith, courage, happiness, peace, and joy to mankind in precisely the way which Christ Jesus ordained that these should come to them. Christ Jesus demanded of his followers that they heal both the sick and the sinning by spiritual means. This was a test, or proof, of true discipleship, for Jesus plainly said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." Christ Jesus further said that no man could heal the sick in his name and lightly speak evil of him. The healing was, therefore, a sure sign that his followers or disciples were reflecting and expressing in some degree the Christ spirit, or Mind which the Master reflected. In the quotation from page 23 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "One sacrifice, however great, is insufficient to pay the debt of sin," Mrs. Eddy is showing that no sinner is immune from the sins committed to-day, because of his repentance or sacrifice of yesterday; for she immediately says, "The atonement requires constant self-immolation on the sinner's part." Christian Scientists do accept the atonement of Christ Jesus, whereby he proved man's unity with the Father. Christian Science further teaches that each and every individual must come into at-one-ment with God through repentance, sacrifice, and cross-bearing. The teaching of Christian Science makes it quite clear that mankind must strive daily to be at-one with God. In this way only can he reach the goal of perfection. Our Master, clearly discerning this, admonished us to "pray without ceasing."

As the Science of mathematics is provable by demonstration, so is Christian Science. What a wonderful thing is God's healing power! Why should professing Christians doubt God's willingness and ability to heal? On page 495 of the Christian Science textbook Mrs. Eddy says, "God will heal the sick through man, whenever man is governed by God."
