It is with gratitude to God for His protection and omnipotence...
It is with gratitude to God for His protection and omnipotence that I am sending this testimony of healing, experienced in April, 1919. For four years I had been under medical care, and had tried every known remedy; but without any permanent relief. I was in a nervous, run-down condition, and suffered much pain. Finally, an operation was advised as the only means of cure. This I submitted to, but did not recover from the old trouble. About six weeks after the operation, I was taken ill one morning, very suddenly, with an acute pain in my left side. Physicians were called to examine me. They diagnosed the case as kidney gravel, and said there was no possible help for me. For three days following, the only relief I could get was through the use of opiates. Finally, the pain became so intense that even the opiate failed to quiet me. It was then that our family physician suggested to my people that we try Christian Science.
Prior to this I had known practically nothing of God's healing power; but I was willing to try anything to lift myself out of this state of suffering. A Christian Science practitioner was summoned, and treatment began at once. She had not been with me more than a half hour, when a change took place, and I was able to move about in bed without suffering. That night I slept more peacefully, and next morning felt still better. From that time on, I regained strength rapidly, every day noticing how some discordant condition yielded. During the first few days of my treatment the practitioner remained with me, and very lovingly explained God's healing power. Each day, I saw things a little more clearly, and soon came into the realization of the meaning of the verse, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." It is over three years since this healing, and I have never had a touch of the old conditions. I am healthy in every way.
I am most grateful to God; to Mrs. Eddy, who has opened the way for all of us; and to those who have helped me to find this new peace and happiness. My desire is that I may help others as I have been helped, and that I may be worthy to receive the blessings sent unto me.
