I wish to add my testimony as a proof of Christian Science...

I wish to add my testimony as a proof of Christian Science healing. My wife and I have been studying Science for nearly ten years, often resorting to it during that period for minor illnesses; but an overwhelming proof came recently. I was suffering from kidney difficulty. I thought it was due to a cold; and on the third day had to give up and go home. We did not call a practitioner until three days later, thinking we could overcome it ourselves. By the next evening (Sunday) I had some relief. On Monday morning, however, after again passing an almost sleepless night, I told my wife to tell the practitioner I should probably call a doctor and get an opiate to relieve the pain. My wife seemed unwilling to do so, and asked me to do it. I did; and the practitioner asked me to take one hour to decide between Christian Science and a doctor. She said the thought of an opiate was possibly the obstacle to my healing; and that the doctor might suggest an operation. She then read to me from the Bible the account of Jesus' being tempted three times, and told me of the early martyrs, who could have saved their material sense of life had they but denied God. I had always been averse to an operation; and before I left the telephone I told her I would take a firm stand for Christian Science. My wife then took the telephone, and during her conversation with the practitioner I experienced slight relief. Tuesday afternoon, about three o'clock, I nearly fainted. My wife again called the practitioner by telephone, and told her I seemed to be sinking. Shortly afterwards I had great relief. From then on I continued to regain strength.

Aside from the physical cure, both my wife and I have now a better understanding of Christian Science, and of God's care.—Chas. F. Ireland, Hopkins, Minn.
