The Lectures

New Orleans, La. (Second Church).—Introducing Prof. Hermann S. Hering, a Christian Science lecturer, to his audience, Charles Pique spoke as follows:—

I once read, "What is the use of knowing a whole lot if what you know is not so?" To fill our thought with that which is untrue is only to burden ourselves with false beliefs that must eventually be cast out. Sooner or later each individual must eliminate from his consciousness every thought that is unlike God, for these false beliefs serve only to retard and hinder his understanding of the real man, the true image and likeness of God. The knowledge of God is not a mere intellectual accomplishment. We know Him only as we can demonstrate the spiritual idea of His creation.
