[Written for the Sentinel]

Armageddon

World , o'erburdened by your dreamings,
Stumbling blindly in the night,
Love alone can save you, brothers,
Truth alone can give you light.

Though like angry beasts your fact'ries,
With the crimson of their breath,
Turn the earth into a furnace,
Making what mankind calls death;

Though ye raise your million-armies,
Though ye fight till kingdoms reel,
Hate will ne'er be killed by shrapnel,
Lust by cannon, greed by steel.
