Before becoming interested in Christian Science, I had had an operation, and a few months later I suffered intense pain, similar to that which I had experienced previous to the operation. Being alone at home, I was seized with fear; and, having begun the study of Christian Science, the thought came to me to telephone to a practitioner, whom I had not even seen. I explained the condition very briefly, and he told me to keep close to God, to have confidence in Him, and that He would give me relief. It was then about eleven o'clock at night. Not knowing how one should pray, I took "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and opened it. After reading for a few moments I felt some pain, but this gradually diminished until all pain had vanished. I then went to bed with great peace of mind, and had a perfect night's rest. The following morning all pain and fear had disappeared.

One day, when hurrying to catch a car, I knocked my foot so violently on the curbstone that I fell flat on my face. I got up with my mouth and nose bleeding. My nose swelled up and caused me great pain. I felt myself losing consciousness, but was sustained through turning in thought to God. I telephoned to a practitioner, and the inflammation was reduced almost immediately. I had sprained my hand very badly, but the pain and inflammation had completely disappeared at the end of three days.

One night, as I was going to bed without a light, I knocked my foot so violently against the bar of a chair that I experienced great pain; but, turning my thought to Christian Science, I commenced to pray. I went to bed with difficulty, and the next morning I found it impossible to set my foot to the ground. I could not even bear the contact of the sheet. I requested my husband to ask help from a practitioner, but he at first refused. Later, he consented to telephone to a Christian Science practitioner, and in a short time the inflammation began to subside; then I began to move my foot. After that I could get out of bed, and walk downstairs with the help of a cane. Towards three o'clock in the afternoon I went out in a car, although with difficulty and still unable to get on a shoe. When I returned at six o'clock, the foot was quite normal. I put on my shoes and danced, feeling so happy at being free from pain, and for the demonstration of the healing power of Truth. This gave me great courage. It had proved to me once again that God is always with us, and helps us when we know how to ask Him for help.
